On October 1, 2026, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) College of Engineering hosted a Faculty Development Talk entitled “Designing Measurable Engineering Learning Outcomes: Aligning Learning Domains, Taxonomy Levels, and Assessment”. The session brought together engineering faculty to enhance instructional design and assessment practices across the college.
The event featured Engr. Dionisio R. Tandingan Jr., PCpE, as the resource speaker. Engr. Tandingan led an engaging discussion centered on aligning course learning outcomes (CLOs), teaching-learning activities, and assessment methods. The lecture emphasized the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy across its three core domains: Cognitive (knowledge-based thinking), Affective (emotions, attitudes, and values), and Psychomotor (manual and physical skills). Faculty participants gained key insights on selecting appropriate taxonomy levels and action verbs to construct measurable, meaningful, and outcome-aligned engineering curricula.
This professional development initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by advancing educational quality and faculty competence. By empowering educators to design precise, outcome-based curricula, the workshop contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education), ensuring engineering students receive structured, high-standard instruction. Elevating academic rigor and skill alignment prepares future engineers to drive industry innovation, supporting SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Finally, continuous institutional learning and faculty development highlight SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), reflecting UC’s commitment to collaborative academic growth.
