Civil engineering faculty members from the College of Engineering of the University of the Cordilleras, participated in the Local Infrastructure Learning Hub (LILHub) – Training of Trainers (TOT) for the Infrastructure Audit held on July 27–30, 2026, at the Nene Pimentel Hall, DILG Regional Office, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Representing UC-COE were Engr. Lyran C. Tayaotao, Engr. Jennica B. Tanacio, and Engr. Rizalyn O. Sayan, together with Dr. Nathaniel Vincent A. Lubrica, UC Executive Director for Research Services.
The four-day capacity-building program, organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government–Cordillera Administrative Region (DILG-CAR), brought together representatives from LILHub partner institutions and DILG Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) personnel. The training aimed to strengthen participants’ technical competencies in conducting infrastructure audits and promoting resilient and disaster-ready public infrastructure. Participants were introduced to the Infrastructure Audit framework, its implementation status, and the role of local government units in ensuring the safety and resilience of public infrastructure, particularly against seismic and geologic hazards.
The participation of UC-COE faculty members in this initiative highlights the University’s continuing commitment to industry and government collaboration, faculty professional development, applied research, and community resilience. Throughout the training, the faculty members engaged in technical discussions, practical workshops, and field-based exercises covering engineering codes and standards, structural vulnerability assessment, use of the Infrastructure Audit Tool, infrastructure inspection, report preparation, and action planning. Through initiatives such as LILHub, UC continues to contribute its academic and technical expertise toward building safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready communities in the Cordillera and beyond.
The participation of UC faculty members in the LILHub Training of Trainers supports SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by strengthening expertise in infrastructure safety, disaster risk reduction, and community resilience. It also advances SDG 4: Quality Education by equipping faculty with specialized technical knowledge and competencies that can be integrated into teaching and shared with future engineering professionals. Through this initiative, UC contributes to building both resilient communities and quality engineering education.
