The University of the Cordilleras (UC) College of Engineering continues to strengthen its commitment to innovative and industry-responsive engineering education through active participation in international capacity-building initiatives.
From July 18–24, 2026, Engr. Dionisio R. Tandingan, Director of the Institute of Teaching and Learning and , and Dr. Rose Ellen N. Macabiog, Academic Dean of the College of Engineering, represented UC in the “New Energy Vehicle Industry, Three Core Technologies – Battery, Motor, and Electronic Control System and Vocational Education Teaching Management and China–Philippines Vocational Education Exchange” held in Nanning and Guangzhou, China.
The training provided valuable exposure to emerging electric vehicle technologies, intelligent manufacturing, robotics, industry-based training, and innovative approaches to curriculum development and technical education. Participants also gained insights into school–industry partnerships, training facility management, and quality assurance practices that support workforce readiness in rapidly evolving industries.
For the UC College of Engineering, participation in initiatives such as this goes beyond international exposure. It serves as an opportunity to benchmark global practices, expand institutional partnerships, enhance faculty and academic leadership capabilities, and identify opportunities for strengthening engineering programs and learning environments. The knowledge and practices gained can contribute to the College’s continuing efforts to prepare graduates for emerging fields such as electric mobility, intelligent transportation, and advanced manufacturing.
This initiative also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through the continuous improvement of engineering education and faculty development; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through exposure to advanced technologies and industry-responsive education; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strengthened international and institutional collaboration. Through these initiatives, UC College of Engineering continues to pursue educational excellence while contributing to a more innovative, sustainable, and globally connected engineering community.
