The Advanced Level Engineer (ALE) Orientation-Seminar and Writeshop was successfully conducted on July 4, 2026, at the University of the Cordilleras (UC), Baguio City. Organized by the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines (ICpEP) in collaboration with the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) Global–Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region–Oman Affairs, the event aimed to prepare Filipino engineers for registration under the ASEAN Engineer Registry (AER), APEC Engineer Register (APEC ER), and International Professional Engineer Register (IntPE/IPER).

The participants were welcomed by Dr. Nancy M. Flores, President of UC, who emphasized the University’s commitment to professional excellence, internationalization, and lifelong learning. Engr. Desiderio R. Apag III, CHED Commissioner and National President of ICpEP, delivered the rationale of the activity, highlighting the importance of global engineering mobility and international professional recognition.

The technical sessions featured distinguished experts from the Philippine Technological Council and ICpEP. Engr. Federico A. Monsada, PTC President, discussed the role of PTC and its global engineering alliances in promoting international professional mobility. Engr. Romulo R. Agate, Chair of the PTC Engineering Registry Board, explained the frameworks, qualifications, and requirements for the ASEAN Engineer, APEC Engineer, and International Professional Engineer registries. The writeshop continued with Engr. Gerry A. Manglicmot, who guided participants through the application process, required documentation, timelines, and portfolio preparation for international engineering registration. The final session, led by Engr. Trese T. Bustamante, focused on the assessment and evaluation criteria used in competency-based engineering registries, providing participants with practical insights on meeting international standards.

              The event concluded with the closing remarks of Engr. Leopoldo M. Manglicmot Jr., who encouraged participants to pursue international engineering registration as a pathway to professional growth and global competitiveness. The activity reaffirmed the shared commitment of ICpEP, PTC, and the University of the Cordilleras to developing globally competitive Filipino engineers by providing them with the knowledge and guidance needed to achieve international engineering recognition.
