UC-Engineering Faculty Attend Seminar on Reasonable Accommodation for Learners with Special Needs

The College of Engineering faculty participated in a focused Faculty Development seminar on “Reasonable Accommodation of Learners with Special Needs” with Dr. Dante Caseldo as the resource speaker on November 28, 2025 from 3:00 to 4:30 PM at Room U203. This activity formed part of UC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening inclusive and student-centered teaching practices across all academic programs.

Held as part of UC’s continuous professional development initiatives, the seminar aimed to deepen faculty understanding of their crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. The session highlighted key concepts on reasonable accommodation, legal and institutional guidelines, and practical strategies for ensuring equitable access to learning experiences, assessments, and academic support.

Faculty participants engaged in discussions and case-based activities designed to strengthen their capacity to respond compassionately and effectively to students requiring additional support. The seminar also emphasized the importance of proactive communication, flexible instructional design, and the alignment of teaching practices with UC’s mission to promote holistic and inclusive education.

Through this seminar, UC reaffirms its dedication to building inclusive classrooms and ensuring that every learner regardless of ability receives meaningful support and opportunities to succeed.
